SynopsisDo you remember the hospital, Colton? Sonja said. Yes, mommy, I remember, he said. That s where the angels sang to me.
When four-year-old Colton Burpo made it through an emergency appendectomy his family was overjoyed at his miraculous survival. What they weren't expecting, though, was the story that emerged in the following months a story as beautiful as it was extraordinary, detailing their little boy s trip to heaven and back.
This true story, retold by his father but using Colton s uniquely simple words, offers a glimpse of the world that awaits us, where as Colton says, Nobody is old and nobody wears glasses.
"Heaven is for Real"will forever change the way you think of eternity, offering the chance to see, and believe like a child.
Bonus material in this special movie edition includes:
Photos from the movie set Updates from father, Todd, and son, Colton, on recent events including the making-of-the-movie experience From the Set Q&A s with the movie s filmmakers and actors
Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from BookLook Bloggers program.
I read this book not really knowing what to expect. It was a very easy book to read, very well-written. It was almost as if you were in a coffee shop with the author and he was telling you this story over a cup or two of coffee. I can't even imagine the pain and fear that Todd and his wife went through as their child almost died. I look at my own children, and put myself in their shoes. Would I have done anything different from them? No, I wouldn't.
But the story that follows, the story that slowly comes out, piece by little piece, it's amazing that Mr Burpo was actually able to contain himself. I think I would want to know every little detail immediately, not let it come out a little at a time as he did.
Comparing how his four year old explained what he saw with what the Bible says is in heaven was interesting for me to read. Do I really believe it? I'm not quite sure. The skeptic in me still demands proof, yes, I am a doubting Thomas all the way. However, the most amazing picture from this book is the one from Akiane Kramarik. If you haven't seen it, it's amazing, and how it ties into this book just gives me goosebumps.
